Let’s talk IPad

When I first started down this digital road, I never thought I would find something that actually worked with how I draw and work, without paper and pencil. Where all of my work from start to finish can be done on one piece of tech. Where I become the whole Studio…

(Below: IPad Pro 12.9  M1 2022 with Magic Keyboard)

but before we get to far  I started drawing digital in the early 2000’s I started with Wacom products, Bamboo, Intuos, Cintiq, these tablets worked well but took me awhile to get used to them. Something was missing for me… I couldn’t get the work to look the same as my traditional work, it was hollow kind of strange looking, like something was off a little. Then Samsung came out with a Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 with this tiny little S-Pen. Now this was a magical device that I did most my work in. But as it was getting older and running its course  I decided to look for an upgrade. Unfortunately there was no upgrade for the Samsung at the time, so I was told the Microsoft Surface Pro 365 was the next best thing(far from it). After wasting 24hrs with it, I took it back. This time I walked over to Apple section of Best Buy to check out an IPad Pro 12.9 2017. Now the IPad was not yet what it was to become for me. It was the tablet I could draw on that was close to the traditional feel that I needed, that I wasn’t getting from the others. But was lacking in software capabilities to complete the entire  process. With a few IOS upgrades and software updates it finally became my all in one machine I was looking for. By this time my IPad is around 5 years old and works. Like a champ! And still does at the time of this writing. Although i did upgrade a couple years ago to and M1 2022 IPad Pro 12.9.

What can I say about this machine except I absolutely love it!!! It goes everywhere with me and does everything I need to do for all my illustrations and comics, it even does animation with out breaking sweat. It is and holds my ENTIRE studio on one device! Apple has recently dropped new iPads which look absolutely amazimg. This M1 iPad I purchased in 2021 will still last me a few more years to come before I have to upgrade. And I am still using my 2nd gen 2017 IPad Pro for the same things II use the M1 for and there is really no difference in performance. So that should say something about this product. So far that is my continuing Apple journey. Are you a fan of the IPad? Do you own one or plan on purchasing one in the future. Or, are you invested in the Apple ecosystem like your Cartoon Pal here?
